เฉพาะแกนหมุนของโลกที่เอียง(Earth's axial tilt) เมื่อโคจรรอบดวงอาทิตย์ จึงมีผลสลับขั้วโลกเหนือ กับ ขั้วโลกใต้ เข้าหาดวงอาทิตย์ ทำให้เกิดฤดูกาลต่าง ๆ ขึ้น ส่วนการโคจรของโลกรอบดวงอาทิตย์ที่มีระยะใกล้บ้าง ไกลบ้าง นั้น เป็นอัตราส่วนที่น้อยมากเมื่อเทียบกับระยะห่างจากดวงอาทิตย์ จึงไม่ได้มีผล ต่อการเกิดฤดูกาลแต่อย่างใด

SOLSTICE IN A SODA CAN: To commemorate the 2012 summer solstice, astronomer Rijk-Jan Koppejan has made an image of the sun--with an exposure time of six months. Every day from Dec. 2011 to June 2012, he used a solargraph to record the sun's motion across the skies of his observatory in Middelburg, the Netherlands:

A solargraph is a simple pinhole camera made from a soda or beer can lined with a piece of photographic paper. Koppejan deployed his solargraph in time to record last December's solstice (the lowest track in the image) and let it continue passively recording until June 19, 2012.​

"Here in the Netherlands we think we didn't have much sunlight the last 6 months, but looking at this picture it wasn't too bad after all!" Koppejan says.

The Maya conceived the world as a quadrangular space that was ordered and measured at the time of creation. The gods created the face of the Earth, 'u wach ulew', as a favorable place for human life. The world creation is described in the ancient sacred book 'Popol Vuh' - the "Bible" of the Maya. The book was found in the 16th century, in Chichicastenango, Guatemala, hidden in a church altar and written in Ki'ch'e. It original was thought to be a type of fairytale or local folklore.

However, in the recently discovered ancient Murals in San Bartolo located in Petén, Guatemala, evidence depicts the 'Popol Vuh' as being the Maya record of Creation. In March 2001, archeologist Bill Saturno, during a trek through northern Guatemala in search of Maya hieroglyphics, Saturno crawled down a looter's trench into the base of an ancient jungle-covered Maya structure. It was then he discovered some of the earliest Mayan glyphs yet found. The colorful murals predating the time of Christ.

The well preserved murals in San Bartolo characterizeexquisite glyphs detailing the birth of the cosmos and the divine right of a king. The descriptions of Creation are the same as in the sacred book 'Popol Vuh'.

More recently, Archeologist and Paleologist have discovered evidence suggesting humans (thinking, pondering, contemplating humans) walked the Earth for tens of thousands of years. Long enough to observe cycle - upon cycle - upon cycle - upon cycle of astronomical and geophysical events. It has been rumored, the discovery of fossilized human remains would suggest humans may have been walking the Earth during the Pangaea period.

I think what you will find below as written in the 'Popol Vuh' has what I believe to be an undeniable reflection of the Christian Bible.

"Here is the story of the beginning when there was not one bird, not one fish, not one mountain. Here is the sky, all alone. Here is the sea, all alone. There is nothing more - no sound, no movement. Only the Creators, only Heart-of-Sky, Huracán alone. And these are his names: Maker and Modeler, the first is Caculhá-Huracán, the second is Chipi-Huracán, the third is Raxá-Caculhá, those three form the Heart-of-Sky. But there is no one to speak his names. There is no one to praise his glory. There is no one to nurture his greatness.

How should it be sown, how should it dawn? And then the Earth arose because of them, it was simply their word that brought it forth. For the forming of the Earth they said "Earth." It arose suddenly, just like a cloud, like a mist, now forming, unfolding. Such was the formation of the Earth when it was brought forth by the Heart of Sky, Heart of Earth, as they are called. The Maya knew that our Sun 'Kinich-Ahau' aligns with our galaxy Milky Way as part of a 5,125 cycle. My research suggest it is during this period a stream (or funnel) of charged particles in the form of galactic cosmic rays hits our Sun causing a surge to our solar system and Earth.

Mayan prophecy speaks of a 20 period called a "Katún" the last of which is the period between the years 1992-2012. It is also the last solar cycle of their long count of 5,125 years. It is said the prediction during this period solar events would become more powerful. Needless to say, my research has identified a match between recent science discoveries and ancient text.

I firmly believe the events coming as part of this process, are not here to punish us for our "evil ways", but to help us reunite as a community, once again getting to know our neighbors and ourselves. I guess one could say we didn't do such a good job on our own, so perhaps we needed a little help to get us back on track.

One last word: This is not the end of the world. No, it's just the end of an era and change is part of a "beginning".​
