Situation: Southern Colombian authorities have issued red alert and started evacuation of more than 8,000 people living near the Galeras volcano, which erupted on Wednesday, reported on Thursday. Colombian seismologists warn that a second explosion of the volcano, considered the most active in the country, is imminent. The seismic event began on Tuesday, with an earthquake of 4.6 on the Richter scale registered close to the top of the 4,276-meter volcano, followed by some 400 aftershocks of varying intensity. The volcano erupted on Wednesday and now emits plumes of smoke and ash. Local residents, however, have been reluctant to evacuate amid fears of looting and only about 300 agreed to be relocated to a safe area. National police chief Oscar Naranjo told the El Tiempo newspaper that some 400 mounted police will be sent to the area to assist in evacuation. Galeras, one of the country's 15 active volcanoes, is located some 700 km southwest of the capital Bogota. The volcano's previous eruption, which took place on January 2, did not cause any deaths or injuries, but lava flows running down the sides of the volcano sparked forest fires. Last year it erupted three times. The most recent fatal eruption took place in 1993, when six scientists and three tourists were killed.

More than 18,000 residents living in the danger areas were evacuated by Sunday afternoon, said Tarigan, an official from the local disaster management centre in Karo district. They were given shelter in government buildings, and tents had also been erected. "At midnight, there was a strong shock - believed to be a volcanic earthquake," Irsal said. "Immediately after, we saw lava come down from the peak of Sinabung, and fire began to burn the forest at the foot of the mountain." The volcano was calm on Sunday afternoon with white smoke billowing from its crater. In addition to foodstuffs, the refugees needed other supplies such as face masks, blankets and sleeping mats, Tarigan said. Firman, a weather forecaster, said the eruption had not disrupted flights at Medan's airport so far. The Directorate of Vulcanology said Sinabung's eruption was the first recorded since 1600. But he added that some had already gone home as volcanic activity was decreasing. The volcano had been placed on red level, the highest alert. "Despite decreasing activities since the eruption, we haven't downgraded the status level," said Surono, who goes by one name, like many Indonesians. "This is the first time since 1600 that Sinabung erupted and we have little knowledge in terms on its eruptive patterns and general forms." Authorities evacuated at least 12,000 people from high risk areas on the slopes of the 2,460-meter volcano to temporary shelters. The area around the volcano is largely agricultural. The Health Ministry put health posts on standby and distributed face masks, though there were no reports of casualties, according to Mudjiarto, head of the health ministry's crisis centre. The nearest big city to the volcano is Medan and there were no disruptions to flights.

On Saturday, the 2,400 meter-high mountain showed its volcanic activity by spewing black clouds.

A five-minute quake rattled villages near Mount Sinabung, North Sumatra on Monday as the volcano continued to spew ash clouds.

Irfin Dian, a Kabanjahe resident, said the temblor was felt for five minutes before Mount Sinabung spewed thick black clouds.

Some residents, who were eating their morning meal before fasting, fled home because of the quake.

"They anticipated any unexpected incidents," Dian said as quoted by kompas.com

The tremor could be felt five miles (8 kilometers) away, said Surono, who heads the nation’s volcano alert center. Mount Sinabung erupted for the first time in 400 years on Sunday and Monday, catching many scientists off guard and forcing at least 30,000 people living along its fertile slopes in North Sumatra province to be evacuated. Many had already returned to areas within the "safety zone" — well away from the crater’s mouth — despite warnings by vulcanologists that the alert level was still high. Pasi Ginting, a resident, told MetroTv that Friday’s blast, which occurred around 4:45 a.m., as many people were sleeping, appeared to be the strongest yet. Indonesia, prone to seismic activity because of its location in the so-called "Ring of Fire," is home to 129 active volcanoes. It has recorded some of the largest eruptions in history.

Shiveluch (also spelled Sheveluch) is one of the largest and most active volcanoes on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula. It has been spewing ash and steam intermittently—with occasional dome collapses, pyroclastic flows, and lava flows, as well—for the past decade. Shiveluch is a stratovolcano, a steep-sloped formation of alternating layers of hardened lava, ash, and rocks thrown out by earlier eruptions. A lava dome has been growing southwest of the 3,283-meter (10,771-foot) summit.
The Advanced Land Imager (ALI) on NASA’s Earth Observing-1 (EO-1) satellite acquired this image on September 7, 2010. Brown and tan debris—perhaps ash falls, perhaps mud from lahars—covers the southern landscape of the volcano, while the hills on the northern side remain covered in snow and ice.
The Kamchatkan Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) reported that seismic activity at Shiveluch was "above background levels" from September 3-10. Ash plumes rose to an altitude of 6.5 kilometers (21,300 feet) on September 3-4, and gas-and-ash plumes were reported on September 7, when this image was acquired.
According to the Smithsonian Institution's volcano program, at least 60 large eruptions of Shiveluch have occurred during the current Holocene Epoch of geological history. Intermittent explosive eruptions began in the 1990s, and the largest historical eruptions from Shiveluch occurred in 1854 and 1964.

ช่วงหน้าหนาวประมาณเดือนธันวาคม อาจจะมีปฏิกริยาภูเขาไฟมากเป็นพิเศษ และคิดว่าจะมีแผ่นดินไหวครั้งใหญ่ในช่วงสามเดือนนี้ แต่ยังไม่ทราบตำแหน่ง

และช่วงปลายเดือนธันวา จะมีพายุหิมะเข้าอาจจะหนาวสุดเป็นประวัติการณ์
