รอยเลื่อนสะแกงเคลื่อนตัวเหลื่อมขวามุ่งลงใต้ แล้วจะเกิดอะไรขึ้น

ผมขอให้สังเกตดูพิกัดของแผ่นดินไหว M6.8 กับ M5.8 จะพบว่าแนวองศาเหนือเหลื่อมกันอยู่ประมาณ 1 องศา ส่วน M5 ทั้งสองครั้ง เป็นพิกัดองศาเดียวกับ M5.8 แสดงว่า M5 เป็นแผ่นดินไหวนำของ M5.8

รอยเลื่อนสะแกงเคลื่อนตัวแนวเหนือใต้ M6.8 ครั้งนี้แนวด้านขวาของรอยเลื่อนเคลื่อนตัวลงใต้ ไปดันชั้นหิน ณ พิกัด M 5.8 ให้เคลื่อนตัวตาม และส่งต่อแรงไปตามรอยเลื่อนด้านขวา

จากภาพล่างจะเห็นว่ารอยเลื่อนแขนงด้านขวาของรอยเลื่อนสะแกงประกอบไปด้วยรอยเลื่อนวังเจ้า รอยเลื่อนศรีสวัสด์ และเจดีย์สามองค์ ซึ่งแน่นอนว่าได้รับแรงส่งต่อหรือแรงเฉือนครั้งนี้ด้วย และสะสมเป็นความเครียดในชั้นหินของรอยเลื่อน ตรงจุดใดของรอยเลื่อนที่ความเครียดมีน้อยกว่าแรงเฉือนก็จะเคลื่อนตัว

เราคงได้แต่ภาวนาว่าขอให้ชั้นหินของรอยเลื่อนศรีสวัสดิ์และเจดีย์สามองค์จงแข็งแกร่งยิ่งกว่าหินผาใดๆในโลก แกร่งกว่าแรงเฉือนที่มากระทบครั้งนี้ด้วยเถอะ เขื่อนต่างๆจะได้ปลอดภัย

วันนี้ 11-11-2012 ตอนบ่ายแวะไป ม.เกตร เพื่อซื้ออาหารเสริมพลังพีระมิดของพระอาจารย์รัตน์ ทีแรกอากาศร้อนมาก กำลังรอรถอยู่ที่ป้ายรถเมล์ รถก็ไม่มาสักที ลมพายุพัดแรงมาก พัดอยู่นานเหมือนกัน แล้วก็มีฝนตก มองไปที่ ม.เกษตร ก็แอบคิดอยู่ในใจสงสัยจะเป็นเพราะท่านพระอาจารย์กำลังอบรมอยู่ เทวดาเลยมาพรมน้ำมนต์ แต่ลมมันก็แรงน่ากลัว ก็ไม่รู้จะหลบไปไหนเพราะอยู่ข้างถนน ในใจก็เรียกสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธื์มาคุ้มครองเหมือนกัน

 

ตามเมืองหลวงใหม่ไปเลย ย้ายไปตรงไหน โดนตรงนั้น

- No new reports out of Myanmar.
- Rescue and relief aid is currently distributed.

Update 18:30 UTC :
- Our tools are just showing a new strong aftershock (preliminary Magnitude M5.7)
It is currently in the middle of the night in Burma. Let’s hope people will stay safely outside.

Update 18:20 UTC :
- Just like there is a press stop, no more details since our latest updates. Because of this, we do not know whether the M6.0 aftershock has made additional damage.

Update 14:30 UTC :
Canton News reports that the death toll has risen to 21 people.
International press, partly informed by NGO’s and Eleven talks about 13 people killed
The Myanmar government still claims that 2 people have been killed.
This is transparency in 2012 !
Out own number compiled of specific detailed events stands at 14 at this moment.

Update 12:42 UTC :
A local Myanmar news-source writes : Local media reported that the earthquake caused the deaths of at least 13 people, but an NGO spokesperson said that dozens of people are feared dead and injured.

Update 12:23 UTC :
State television MRTV said 100 homes, some government buildings and a primary school were damaged in Thabeikyin, a town known for gold mining not far from the epicenter (ER : Male is closer to the epicenter (5 km) – Distance from Thabeikyin to the epicenter : approx. 20 km).
It put the latest casualty toll from the quake at four dead, 53 injured and four missing, a death toll lower than independently compiled reports.
ER has to stress that Myanmar State media are far from reliable in disaster cases. Other reports we made earlier proved this.

Update 11:38 UTC :
- The aftershock which we described below was reported as a M5.8 by USGS BUT as a M6.2 by the Chinese authorities. We trust the Chinese authorities here as they have a lot of instruments installed at the border with Myanmar.
- Chinese authorities are an important source of information for earthquake-report.com. Times of censorship are over these days concerning earthquake data. Chinese seismological institutes are well organised and are reporting on the earthquakes minutes after they occur.

Update 11:04 UTC :
A very strong M6.0 aftershock occurred a few minutes ago in the earthquake area. This aftershock will certainly add more damage to the already seriously damaged area. As most of the people will stay outside for the coming days, we do not think that these aftershocks will add to the heavy injured and death toll.

The following list is a summary of damage information so far (mainly sourced from Eleven Myanmar, and other sources)
(1) A gold mine has collapsed trapping at least 6 individuals at the Sintku township.
(2) Archway of Shwegu Gyi Pagoda in Singu Township of Mandalay Region collapsed.
(3) A building and 300-feet long brick wall of primary school fell down.
(4) Pennant post and archway of Shwe Yet Taung Pagoda collapsed.
(5) Five partitions of brick wall in Taw Ya Monastery collapsed.
(6) 600-feet long brick wall of Pariyatti Thattama Vamsa Nandar Monastery collapsed
(7) Severe damage to 10 pottery factories has been registered.
(8) 3 persons were injured due to the collapse of a house
(9) ‘Diamond buds’ of Lay Myat Hnar Pagoda and Ayeik Mahwet Pagoda in Amarayapura township.
(10) A woman died, and 10 were injured due to the collapse of 6-feet high brick wall.
(11) Five workers are still missing after falling down into the river at the construction site of Yatana Theinga Bridge to cross Ayayawaddy River. A crane vessel sunk into the river. 1 person has died.
(12) A Buddhist monk had a head injury due to the collapse of monastery in Khin U Township.
(13) ‘Diamond bud’ of the Tooth Relic Pagoda(Mandalay) in Amarayapura Township fell down to the middle platform.
(14) ‘Diamond buds’ of Sandar Muni Pagoda of Aung Myay Tharsan township, and Aung Tawmu Pagoda of Kyaukse Township dropped to ground
(15) A 20-year-old man died from the collapse of brick wall at a restaurant
(16) Brick walls of police station in Thabeikkyin Township.
(17) 8-feet high brick walls of Khin U police station in Sagaing, and the ceiling of Singu police station fell down.
(18) Temples were damaged and abandoned ruby mines were damaged in Modok.

News is slow to come to fruition at the moment, with the current toll of 14 deaths, the best at the current time.

We have preliminary date showing a Magnitude of M6.2 at a depth of 31 km.
We do fear again for unstable houses and constructions in the already earlier hit areas inside the country.

Update : We do not think that this earthquake will generate a tsunami as the epicenter area was in the same area than the mainshock a couple of days ago and as the mainshock did not generate big tides neither.
Update 22:34 UTC : as could be expected, the earthquake was felt all over the country as well as in neighbouring Mexico
- Max. expected shaking by USGS : MMI VI Max. reported shaking at USGS : MMI IV (light shaking)
- These kind of aftershocks will probably continue for quite some time; will gradually become weaker with occasionally now and then a bigger bump like the one we just experienced.
Update 22:54 UTC : at least 15 million people felt the earthquake in Mexico, Nicaragua and Guatemala
- CONRED the Guatemalan relief and rescue service just held a press conference in their offices when the earthquake struck. The premises were immediately evacuated
Update 22:59 UTC : This aftershock was not so harmless as we thought.
- In zone 5 of San Marcos a wall collapsed and a woman was slightly injured.
- 3 people were found under debris, they have been transported to the hospital.
- A bus crashed (turned around) and 10 people were slightly injured, they are in a hospital now.
Update 23:07 UTC : USGS has revised the earthquake data and reports now a Magnitude of 6.5 at a depth of 30 km. On the basis of these new numbers we can conclude that 183000 people have experienced a strong shaking and 1.42 million a moderate MMI V shaking
Update 23:13 UTC : – Power went down in some of the earlier hit areas
- The President of Guatemala has suspended his upcoming trip to Spain
ER thinks that the Guatemalan people, Conred, politicians and certainly also the President did a great job coping with this disaster. The president was at the scene coordinating actions from the very beginning. What a difference with the earthquake in Myanmar.
Update 23:59 UTC: - 20 houses are no longer habitable
- 2 families have been evacuated
- a minor was injured by this aftershock
- Based on the new data (M6.5 at 30 km) USGS has recalculated the intensities - 5000 people will have felt a very strong MMI VII shaking - 434000 people a strong MMIVI shaking and more than 2 million a moderate shaking”

ท่านครูบาอินทร ท่านได้พูดไว้เมื่อ 3 ม.ค. 54 ว่าเป็นห่วงแผ่นดินไหวที่ด่านนี้ และจะส่งแรงไปที่ศรีสวัสดิ์ เขื่อนจะทนไม่ไหว มาช่วยกับจับตาดูอาการต่อไปว่าจะมาจากทางเหนือ หรือจะมาจากที่ราบลุ่มอิระวดีโดยตรงจากแผ่น อินโด-ออสเตรเลีย ที่กำลังเบียดแผ่นพม่า
