GROWING THREAT OF FLARES: Sunspot AR1363 is growing rapidly, more than doubling in size since Friday. A 48-hour movie from NASA's SOlar Dynamic Observatory shows the expansion:​

The active region has a "beta-gamma" magnetic field that harbors energy for M-class solar flares. Because of AR1363's location near the center of the solar disk, any such eruptions in the days ahead would be Earth-directed. Solar flare alerts: text, phone. ​

THE MOON AND JUPITER: For the second night in a row, the Moon and Jupiter are in conjunction. Go outside just after sunset to see the pair rising in the east, shining brightly enough to pierce city lights and even thin clouds. Marek Nikodem sends this picture from Szubin, Poland:​

"Bright moonlight shining through ice crystals in the air made a beautiful 22^o halo," he says. "The ring of light was almost big enough to encircle Jupiter, too."​

Nikodem took his picture on Dec. 4th when Jupiter and the Moon were only beginning to converge. Tonight the pairing is much tighter, with only 5^o of separation between the two. Any Moon halo that forms this evening will capture Jupiter deep inside its circumference. This is a good night for observing in icy air!​

All galaxies are permeated by magnetic fields - including our own galaxy Milky Way. The origin of galactic magnetic fields is yet to be discovered; however, new research suggests our galaxy (Milky Way) possesses a dynamo at its core in the very same way the Earth and the Sun produces its magnetic field.

A new map of the Milky Way produced by scientists at the Max Planck Institute (MPA) which used a method known as the Faraday Effect. The new map reveals the structure of the galactic magnetic field in both large-scale and small-scale features that provide information about turbulent eddies or rotating channeled flows of charged particles in the galactic gas.

It is this "galactic gas" made up of charged particles which could be funneled in various directions which may have an effect on solar systems including ours. What is being referred to as the galactic dynamo produces cosmic magnetic fields. Therefore, as with all dynamo theories, a pole reversal would apply. What a pole reversal looks like on a galactic scale is unknown. ​

Scientists are now using polarized light which passes through a magnetized medium which measures a segment of the magnetic field and observes its rotation. The amount of rotation depends on the strength and direction of the magnetic field pulse. Observing cosmic magnetic field rotation allows researchers to study the properties of magnetic lay-lines.

I believe it is the science of magnetically charged particleswhich will be the instrument of which our ancient ancestors of "all" tribes passed down over hundreds and thousands of years in various forms of ancient text. ​

"It will come from the sky" - and I assert it will come in the form of charged particles - not only from the Sun, but from our galaxy itself. It is my belief science has caught-up (perhaps 90%) with ancient wisdom. I would say it is entirely plausible - we are the generation which will witness the joining of the two worlds. One world of inherent (perhaps innate) wisdom (old) - and one world of modern (learned) science (new). ​

For those of you who have been following the ECM newsletter over the years will recognize a statement I first made in 2007, and now place it in all newsletters: "I believe it will be the magnetic influence produced by the Sun which will usher in what is described by our ancient ancestors as "the transition" bringing us to a new state-of-being". But the science community has learned much since 2007.​

Although ultimately it will be the Sun's influence which will mostly affect us here on Earth, we can affirm now, it is generated by our galactic center known as Milky Way. ​

One simply has to look at Mars or our Moon. New information suggests it was solar flares and coronal mass ejection and their charged particles which killed these orbs. Having said this, and although I do understand and believe the effects a direct hit of solar plasma can do to a planet, I am staying firm with the data which show both the Moon and Mars are the result of planets colliding or a large asteroid occurring in the earlier times of our solar system.

Solar storms and associated Coronal Mass Ejections(CMEs) can significantly erode the lunar surface according to a new set of computer simulations by NASA scientists. In addition to removing a surprisingly large amount of material from the lunar surface, this could be a major method of atmospheric loss for planets like Mars that are unprotected by a global magnetic field.

The Moon and Mars are not the only celestial orbs affected by CMEs. Space scientists have long been aware that these solar storms dramatically affect the Earth's magnetic field and are responsible for intense auroras, electrical blackouts, and extreme weather patterns.

  อาจารย์ศุภรัตน์ได้กล่าวถึงจันทรุปราคาที่จะเกิดขึ้นในวันเสาร์ที่ 10 ธ.ค. 2554 นี้ ว่ามีดวงดาวหลายดวงที่เกี่ยวข้องในเหตุการณ์นี้ไม่ว่าจะเป็น ดาวอังคาร , ดาวเสาร์ , ดาวจันทร์ และดาวพฤหัส ซึ่งอาจจะส่งผลให้เกิดเหตุการณ์แปรปรวนขนานใหญ่หลายอย่างไม่ว่าจะเป็นเรื่อง ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับดิน , น้ำ , ประชาชน , เศรษฐกิจ รวมไปถึงประเทศชาติ

  ดาวเสาร์จะคงอยู่ถึง 2 ปี ครึ่ง และจะมีการเดินหน้า – ถอยหลัง ในทางโหราศาสตร์เรียกว่าเกิดการไม่ปกติ ซึ่งจะเกี่ยวข้องกับเหตุเภทภัยต่างๆ
  
  ให้คณะศิษย์สวดมนต์เยอะๆ มีเวลาให้ทำสมาธิ หากสวดมนต์ไม่ได้ก็ให้พิจารณา ซึ่งมีหลักง่ายๆ ดังนี้
  
  เราเชื่อมั่นในพระพุทธ พระธรรม พระสงฆ์ หรือไม่
  เชื่อในเรื่องกฏแห่งกรรมหรือไม่
  เชื่อว่าพระอรหันต์มีจริงหรือไม่
  เชื่อโลกนี้ – โลกหน้าหรือไม่
  และวิธีที่จะปราบพยศของจิตคือ ให้นึกถึงความตาย ว่าคนเราเกิดมายังไงก็ต้องตาย ไม่มีใครที่สามารถจะหนีความตายไปได้พ้น วิธีการพิจารณาเช่นนี้จะทำให้จิตเรามีกำลัง เห็นทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างเป็นปกติ
  จากที่อาจารย์เคยสอนไว้ว่าปัญหาเล็กๆ น้อยๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นในชีวิตของเรานั้นไม่ใช่เป็นสิ่งที่เราจะต้องเสียเวลามาคิด ใคร่ครวญถึง หรือเสียเวลากังวลกับปัญหาเหล่านั้นมากนัก เป็นเพราะปัญหาเล็กๆ น้อยที่เกิดขึ้น ณ ปัจจุบันนี้เทียบไม่ได้กับเหตุการณ์ที่จะเกิดในเบื้องหน้า 2 ประการ นั่นคือ
  
  การเปลี่ยนแปลงของประชาชาติ
  ทุกๆ คน ยังไงก็ต้องเจอเหตุการณ์ใหญ่กันทุกคน นั่นคือความตาย
  ดังนั้นจึงให้ทุกคนหมั่นสวดมนต์ ไหว้พระให้มาก นึกถึงความตาย พิจารณาความตายให้มากๆ ให้ตั้งคำถามกับตนเอง และตอบเอง เช่น “เราจะต้องตายไหม” ถ้าเราบอกไม่ตาย ก็ให้ตอบกลับไปว่า “จะไม่ตายได้อย่างไร คนเราเกิดมาก็ต้องตาย เห็นคนอื่นก็ตายกันออกเยอะแยะ ดังนั้นเราจะไม่ตายได้อย่างไร”
  
  หลวงพ่อดู่ท่านใช้คำว่า “ ไล่ให้จน” ไล่ให้จิตจนมุม เมื่อจนมุมก็เกิดการยอมรับ จิตจะมีกำลัง เมื่อมีกำลังแล้วจิตจะไปปรากฏที่วิมานแก้ว เพราะว่าจิตที่จะไปวิมานแก้วได้นั้นจะต้องเป็นจิตที่มีกำลังจากวิปัสนาญาณ เราต้องทำจิตของเราตอนนั้นให้เป็นโสดาบัน จิตจึงจะไปได้ง่าย
  
  การที่นำจิตขึ้นไปบนวิมานแก้วนั้นก็เพื่อให้จิตมีกำลัง การที่จิตไปในที่ดี จิตก็ย่อมซึมซับสิ่งที่ดีงามเข้ามาไว้ เป็นการไล่ประจุลบหรือความชั่วที่มีอยู่ในใจให้ค่อยๆ จาง ค่อยๆ หมดไป โดยอาศัยความดีงามเข้ามาแทนที่
  
  การที่จะไปวิมานแก้วได้นั้น เป็นพลังของความบริสุทธิ์ ซึ่งเหนือดี เหนือชั่ว เมื่อทำไว้มากๆ จิตจะมีการสะสมไว้ จนในที่สุดจิตจะมีพละกำลังแกล้วกล้า กล้าหาญ มีปัญญาญาณ ทำได้บ้าง มากบ้าง น้อยบ้างก็ไม่เป็นไร แต่ถ้าเราไม่คิดจะทำเลยมันก็จะเสียเวลา เหมือนกับการมุ่งจะไปสอบเพียงอย่างเดียวโดยไม่อ่านหนังสือแล้วหวังจะให้สอบ ผ่านนั้นเป็นสิ่งที่เป็นไปไม่ได้
  
  สำหรับเรื่องภัยพิบัติที่มีหลายฝ่ายกล่าวถึงนั้น อาจารย์กล่าวเสริมว่าจันทรรุปราคา น่าจะส่งผลให้ภัยต่างๆ เกิดขึ้นในเร็ววัน จะเกิดการแปรปรวนขนานใหญ่ ซึ่งเป็นตัวชี้ว่าเราจะประมาทไม่ได้ จึงต้องระวังตั้งแต่บัดนี้เป็นต้นไป ดังพระราชนิพนธ์ในล้นเกล้ารรัชกาลที่ 5 ที่ว่า
  
  
  “ความรู้คู่เปรียบด้วย กำลัง กายเฮย
  สุจริตคือเกราะบัง ศาสตร์พร้อง
  ปัญญาประดุจดัง อาวุธ
  กุมสติต่างโล่ป้อง อาจแกล้วกลางสนาม”
  
  หมายความถึง ในสนามรบหากเรามีโล่ไว้ป้องกัน ถ้ามีอาวุธอะไรเข้ามา เราก็ยังป้องกันตัวได้ จึงกล่าวได้ว่า สติ และปัญญา เป็นสิ่งที่สำคัญมาก

Vesta was discovered over two hundred years ago but, until Dawn, has been seen only as an indistinct blur and considered little more than a large, rocky body. Now the spacecraft's instruments are revealing the true complexity of this ancient world.
"We're seeing enormous mountains, valleys, hills, cliffs, troughs, ridges, craters of all sizes, and plains," says Chris Russell, Dawn principal investigator from UCLA. "Vesta is not a simple ball of rock. This is a world with a rich geochemical history. It has quite a story to tell!"

In fact, the asteroid is so complex that Russell and members of his team are calling it the "smallest terrestrial planet."
Vesta has an iron core, notes Russell, and its surface features indicate that the asteroid is "differentiated" like the terrestrial planets Earth, Mercury, Mars, and Venus.

Differentiation is what happens when the interior of an active planet gets hot enough to melt, separating its materials into layers. The light material floats to the top while the heavy elements, such as iron and nickel, sink to the center of the planet.
Researchers believe this process also happened to Vesta.
The story begins about 4.57 billion years ago, when the planets of the Solar System started forming from the primordial solar nebula. As Jupiter gathered itself together, its powerful gravity stirred up the material in the asteroid belt so objects there could no longer coalesce. Vesta was in the process of growing into a full-fledged planet when Jupiter interrupted the process.

Although Vesta’s growth was stunted, it is still differentiated like a true planet.
"We believe that the Solar System received an extra slug of radioactive aluminum and iron from a nearby supernova explosion at the time Vesta was forming," explains Russell. "These materials decay and give off heat. As the asteroid was gathering material up into a big ball of rock, it was also trapping the heat inside itself."
As Vesta’s core melted, lighter materials rose to the surface, forming volcanoes and mountains and lava flows.
"We think Vesta had volcanoes and flowing lava at one time, although we've not yet found any ancient volcanoes there," says Russell. "We're still looking. Vesta's plains seem similar to Hawaii's surface, which is basaltic lava solidified after flowing onto the surface.
Vesta has so much in common with the terrestrial planets, should it be formally reclassified from "asteroid" to "dwarf planet"?
"That's up to the International Astronomical Union, but at least on the inside, Vesta is doing all the things a planet does."
If anyone asks Russell, he knows how he would vote.

...AND A TOTALLY DIFFERENT ECLIPSE: Last night, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) observed an unusual event on the sun: An erupting cloud of plasma was eclipsed by a dark magnetic filament. Play the movie for a visual explanation:​

The source of the explosion is a farside active region due to turn toward Earth in a few days. For now, though, the blast site lies just behind the sun's eastern limb--perfectly situated for this rare kind of eclipse. Note the filament of relatively cool dark material snaking across the sun's surface in the foreground. That filament partially blocks our view of hot plasma exploding behind it. By studying how the light of the explosion is filtered by the foreground material, SDO mission scientists might be able to learn something new about dark filaments on the sun.

CONGESTED INTERSECTION: Ranging in size from microscopic space dust to mountainous asteroids, trillions of meteoroids zing through the inner solar system on a daily basis. What are the odds that seven of them would cross the same point in space? Pretty good, actually. In fact, it happened just last night. These are the orbits of seven objects that hit Earth on the night of Dec. 8/9. NASA’s All Sky Fireball Network recorded the meteoroids as they disintegrated in the atmosphere over the United States, each one producing a bright fireball. Note how all the orbits converge on a single point--our planet.​

Every night the network's cameras scan the skies over the United States, forming an inventory of what hits the atmosphere. Combining images from multiple cameras, network software rapidly calculates the basic parameters of each interloper: orbit, speed, disintegration height, and more. At the moment, cameras are located in only four states (New Mexico, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee), but the network is expanding to provide even better coverage. Soon we'll see just how congested our intersection in space really is. Stay tune
